The Pentagon of Wisdom

For part two of our discussion, we will be expanding on wisdom.

Wisdom is something, as often heard for many things, is not to be taught, but caught. In other words, it should come naturally. No one told Benjamin Franklin to say 'Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.' He said those words based on his knowledge, his experience, his wisdom.

Wisdom

Knowledge - To give wise advice, it is necessary to have the knowledge. It doesn't necessarily have to be intellectual knowledge, but just the simple knowledge, as in common sense. Look at Benjamin Franklin's quote above. Isn't it common sense that you would be healthier if you sleep and awake earlier? If you stay up late, you drain your body out, causing it to sleep even more; and sleeping more causes you to wake up later. And if you wake up later, you would most likely skip a meal or have meals at unusual hours of the day - causing your body distress.  Everything is a chain reaction.

What would happen if we thought about the chain reaction of the things we say everyday?

Justice - Wisdom should always be fair. Imagine your life if a person was biased and praised one side and not the other! In the same way, imagine if someone was giving advice to one side, and not the other! This would be classified as unjust wisdom. True wisdom is for everyone's gain, not just a few people.

What would happen if we were fair to everyone we come across?

Truth - Wisdom should always be the truth. If someone gave incorrect advice, society would have a huge loss. People would follow the advice, but eventually find out that it was incorrect. This is one of the reasons why sometimes, you should be independent and trust yourself. There's a different feeling in accomplishing things without the help of others, but there's always a good feeling knowing that they're there.

What would happen if we tried doing things on our own?

Prudence - A person with wisdom is always prudence because they use their governing abilities to critique themselves. This helps them lead to simple truths about life, giving birth to their wisdom for the world.

What would happen if we possessed this quality?

Perseverance - Wisdom is gained with perseverance. Whenever you persevere towards a certain goal, you always learn something about courage, determination and never giving up. This new information becomes something you share with the world, your wisdom.

What knowledge would you gain if you persevered?

So, persevere towards your short-term goals, but never forget the long-term one. Work on that the most.

That, was just a piece of wisdom.

The Pentagon of Love

For the next three blog posts, including this one, we will be discussing the three pentagons:

Today, we will begin with Love and its components.

When that feeling of Love truly comes into play, there are a few things that come automatically - mercy, selflessness, perseverance, joy, and freedom. Here is the role of each one and how they come into play:

Love
While reading these descriptions, you may notice that these traits are expressed for the same reason. That is because love is based on one thing - love.

Mercy - When you love someone, and they make a mistake, a tiny bit of frustration may occur, if not any at all. Despite that fact, you set aside the mistake, and console the person that everything is alright. All you care about is the happiness of the one you love. You are willing to take all the pain, sacrifice all you have, for that one person. You become an entirely different person, and you become merciful.

What would happen if you treated everyone with the same respect?

Selflessness - When you love someone, that's the only person you care about. When you love someone, thoughts about 'Me' turn into thoughts about 'You'. Ego is replaced with humility and 'Me' merges with 'You'. You become an entirely different person, and you become, selfless.

What would happen if you treated everyone with a caring attitude?

Perseverance - When you love someone, you have the confidence that they will be with you through thick and thin, and that you can always feel comfortable to turn to them in need of help. And, when you have that support, you are determined - determined to persevere; because you know that now, anything is possible. You become an entirely different person, and you become persevering.

What would happen if you put that amount of effort in tasks every day of your life?

Joy - When you love someone, you only wish to be with them forever, and for them to be with you forever. Anything that relates to the person makes you happy. You feel the joy in every part of your being, spilling through unconditionally, just like the love. You know that nothing will ever go wrong, between you, and them. You become an entirely different person, and you become joyful.

What would happen if you had the same perspective to everything in life?

Freedom - When you love someone, you have the comfort level in which you know that whatever you do, will always be accepted. Your little habits someone else might call 'out of the ordinary', the person you love will get a kick out of in a friendly way, and confess a habit of their own that will ease the tensity. You become an entirely different person, and you have the freedom.

What would happen if you weren't afraid being your own person to the world?

Love - it's something that the best writers can't define, the pain doctor's can't heal, the blueprint architects can't create, and a situation the most well-known lawyers can't fight

One Needs the Other

Sometimes, during the daily commotion of life, we tend to overlook the things that seem so little, yet so large - so unimportant, yet important. For example, let's take a pencil and eraser. Being a student, and even an adult, we use these utensils almost everyday (well, everyday if you're someone like me!). Have you ever noticed how important the eraser is to the pencil and the pencil to the eraser? Without the eraser, the pencil wouldn't be the right pencil for the job because it has no one to fix its mistakes. Without the pencil, the eraser would have nothing to do and would be jobless. Here is the little skit that goes along with this illustration:

Pencil: I'm sorry
Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.
Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I make a mistake, you're always there to erase it.
But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong.
Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.

Let's take a painter and a canvas as another example. Without the canvas, the painter would have nothing to create his masterpiece on, no tool to accomplish his job. Without the painter, the canvas, would be blank and colorless, unable to do his job as well.

Evidently, one needs the other; it isn't called a pair unless there's two.

If you think about it, our parents are like this as well. They help us with the littlest things in life, to the largest. From helping us make our signature appear more professional; to helping us organize our room - they're always there. But when they fix these little mistakes for us, sometimes, they make sacrifices. They take something that belonged to them and gave it up just so we could have a better life. That's why, you should help your parents everyday, even if they are upset with you. Just like your parents do, try to keep them happy. But keep one thing in mind - the littlest things make them happy. There is no need to purchase anything - a love-filled hug will do!

Just show them that you need them, and that you are always by their side.
What happens next is not history, but a memory.

Here's a quote that may ring a bell to many of you...

"If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably does not lead anywhere."

This quote may be familiar to many because it might be something you remember your parents saying, in some way shape or form, as you grew up. They explained that there is no success without failure. It would surely be pleasant, but otherwise, humans would not be humane. Everyone has faced some hardship throughout the course of their life and most likely still will. But remember - each failure brings you closer to success.

When Thomas Edison failed thousands of times, they were not merely failures; they were successful failures.  To many, at first, this sounds like an oxymoron - even to me. However, after thinking about it, I realized it was completely common sense! Each failure is more successful because you've eliminated yet one more possible way to find your solution! So, each time Thomas Edison failed, he failed better, because he knew that the wiring he just attempted was not correct.

Without failure, a human would not be humane. To be human, one needs to have qualities such as generosity, kindness, and forgiveness. This does not mean that that a human is perfect at all times. They can absolutely be angry, frustrated and sad. These qualities all add up to humanity. If everyone had everything they desired, the world would be catastrophic. That's why when situations don't turn out as you want, people say 'You know what? It's actually better that it didn't happen your way because it happened God's way.'

So, without obstacles on your road, you will end up at a dead end. We all know that there are potholes, speed humps, toll booths, police cars, and whatnot on our road to success. However, after overcoming those obstacles and reaching the ultimate destination, the feeling will be indescribable. That is why the perfect path or "...the path with no obstacles..." does not lead anywhere.

You choose -

The Destination or The Dead End
It's all based on one turn...

As stated by an Italian Proverb:

"After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box,"

The goal of many in life is to have the most wealth, the most fame, etc. However, what we need to keep in mind is that when it is time for us to go, people remember us by our character - not what we had. At the end, we will all leave in the same way, so why does it matter who has the worldly riches or who is the most well-known?

The person who is genuinely rich is the one who respects his values and carries them out with full sincerity. The person who respects everyone no matter how the other person behaves is the genuinely rich person. The richest person may be the pawn in worldly eyes, but inside, he is truly The King. Take a few moments, and think whether the outside king or the inside king will eventually hold the most importance.

We all know that on a gravestone, only a little 'dash' represents our entire life. That is why what we do during that 'dash' is very important, for it is the last people will  remember of you.

That little 'dash' represents the biggest thing - LIFE.

People are reminded of the way you manage when you have nothing in hand and the way you manage when you have everything in hand.

The Performance of The Night

As she sat in the passenger seat of her mom's car, Kate couldn't have been more excited. Her lips continuously curved in an ear-to-ear smile, her legs bounced from foot to foot, and her heart beat as fast as the cars passing by her window. The past month, Kate had practiced her act for the talent show audition and made sure that it was something unique, something never before seen. Kate was going to recreate Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'. She was aware that there were a few other Van Gogh lovers in her school trying out for the audition, so she couldn't have been more confident about her performance. Day after day, with unfailing diligence, Kate painted and painted the 'Starry Night' because Kate believes that there is always room for improvement. For three weeks, Kate's recreations were done on white cardboard - but for the last week, Kate convinced her mom to purchase a few professional canvases, so that she would get the feel of it.

Kate rolled down the tinted window, let the breeze blow her fears away, and closed her eyes in complete silence. The vehicle steadied to a stop as Kate's mom approached a parking space and slowly drove in. Kate opened the door, and looked down as to watch her step, and admired the sparkle in the pavement as the streetlight above shown on the area. Adoring the radiant glitter, she imagined the spotlights in the auditorium shining upon her in the same way, making her the center of attention. Reaching out for the door handle to the entrance, Kate spotted the talent show banner across the top of the auditorium doorway and felt another rush of excitement, enthusiasm, and energy flow to her very soul. The organizers who had volunteered to make all the arrangements guided Kate behind the stage, where she spotted all the others, practicing their acts one last time, before the big game. She noticed a student, unaware of who, towards the back of the room. Step by step, as Kate became closer, she noticed a canvas, paint bottles, and a paint brush pallet set. Drawing back from tapping the shoulder of the student, Kate pondered over how she missed one person who was practically performing the same act as hers, but instinctively tapped the shoulder. He turned around, and Kate was shocked at the face in front of her.

The sullen, silent face of Albert greeted her with an unenthusiastic 'Hello'. Albert was the typical, quiet student who never interacted with anyone, except on occasions like group projects. Kate broke the silence, saying, "I had no idea you were trying out, forget painting. You just never seemed the type to paint."Oh," Albert mumbled and looked at Kate's painting supplies every now and then. "It was a last minute decision. Um, it looks like you're painting too. If you don't mind me asking, what are you painting?" Kate wished to remove that look of nausea and nervousness across his face, so in the most polite, friendly, yet normal manner, she replied, "I'm painting Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'. What about you?" Albert slowly raised his head and met eye-to-eye with Kate. His eyes widened. Kate thought it impossible. They now both had the same act. There was only one thing that could have been done, but it was all worth it.

Kate explained her plan to the head organizer, and she nodded her head. Stepping onto the stage, with the spotlights shining on her exactly as she imagined, she introduced herself, and her partner - Albert. "Together, we will be painting 'Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gogh. I will start off." And with that, Kate began with the delicate swirls of the moon and the sky, handing it over to Albert, who finished off with the city of the night. That night, as Albert and Kate bowed down to the audience of the night, they knew inside of them, that they were...

What Teamwork Really Is

Many a times, we feel as if the only way a task can be completed properly is by doing it ourselves -  sometimes, I feel that way myself! We feel that it needs to be done with full potential - our potential. However, during the past week, Nature has taught me something of which I was either unaware of, or had no idea that it would actually be effective. Sometimes, what we don't realize is that we can achieve much more and reach places beyond our expectations - with an even greater speed...

I sat in the car, on that rainy day, and in silence, I observed the wind as it shook the trees. I heard it whistling, and that's when I noticed the drops of condensation on the windows of the car. The force of the wind and the speed of the car traveling in opposite directions caused the water droplets to join together - and when they did, something remarkable happened. They moved faster. They moved faster than they did when they were by themselves, but when they joined, they took off, going somewhere beyond the vision of the eye.

Here are the characters:

  • Wind=Conscious
  • Water Droplets=Us

In the same way, the wind is our conscious - sometimes, it's a soft breeze and may not speak up, but other times, it howls and you are compelled to listen to it. We are the water droplets and when we join together, we combine into an even greater force that can take us beyond what we see.

Remember, the sky is NOT the limit.

Life is Like Photography

Even though we all know the answer to "Why does life bring so many troubles?", we still ask that question. Nobody escapes from life's sorrows - because if one did, they wouldn't even be in this world. Sometimes, we take a few glances at a person, hear a little about them, and think that their life is perfect and their life has no place for hardships - but deep down, they might be suffering a great loss.

As an unknown author stated,

"Life is like photography, you develop from the negatives,"

Now, if there were no negatives, or situations we dislike in our lives, how would be become mentally strong? The reality is that this world is filled with difficulties and we have to be prepared for them. So, to prepare for them, we need to endure hardships, and become capable of handling the tough times.

This is the process:
  1. We face interminable hardships and our faith feels broken
  2. Finally, the harsh times have ended and happy times seem to germinate once again
  3. Our film roll of the harsh times is ready to be developed
  4. We make our way to the photo department and develop the negatives
  5. The negatives are transformed into a more clear image and we have everlasting memories!
Now, it's up to you whether you will make your way to the photo department and develop those negatives into everlasting positive memories.

Will you?

________________________________________________________________

The following saying was by Mom. There may be quotes similar to the following, but this is her wording:

"It doesn't matter if you lose a game in life, but it does matter if you lose the game of life."

The moment these words reached my ears, they created harmonious tunes and I knew that this was something that should be known to more. Many people become 'depressed', or are filled with anxiety when they lose something that is of value to them, such as peace of mind. The reason that 'depressed' is put in quotations is because there is no such thing as 'depression'. It is simply a mere word that is in the dictionary - but it is not an actual emotion. You may think it is, but give it a few thoughts - that stressed out feeling is simply the action of negative feelings overcoming you.

In life, there are many mini-games in which we have to face. Sometimes, we win, and sometimes we don't. Although, these games are only preparation for the most imperative game that really matters - Life. These mini-games are present as a beneficial support - so we can learn from our mistakes and later perfect them. If winning wasn't in our destiny, we shouldn't let it cling to our hearts and let it be the cause for losing our peace of mind. There are many other chances, and after all, what matters is to win Life - by conquering your goal.

Show those mini-games how mini they are and overlook whether they defeated you or not - and always remember...

"It doesn't matter if you lose a game in life, but it does matter if you lose the game of life."

Good Luck!

The Secret Cameras

Have you noticed that whatever you do has been recorded by secret video cameras implanted by secret agents? Who are these secret agents?

Sun, the determined agent who comes out everyday during daylight, capturing our smiles - only, if we are smiling. Moon, the generous agent who gives a soft-looking glance every night - putting us on the spotlight. Lightning, the all-knowing agent who comes out all of a sudden and takes a picture with lightning fast speed, but finds out everything. These secret agents, as you now know who they are, work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

The reason that they are up-to-date with our progress is to see that we are accepting whatever comes in our lives. To see that we are always smiling makes them happy - but if we are not smiling and are ungrateful for what comes in our lives, you will not look good for the picture, and that will affect you in the long run.

Sun - Sun is the determined agent that, when comes out during daylight, comes to check for your smile. If you are not smiling, he will try to get that positive feeling in you by letting the radiant light fill your soul. At the end of the day, Sun retires for the night shift of Moon.

Moon - Moon, the generous agent who gives a soft-looking glance to end the day and have a restful night. He looks upon you with a loving glance to make sure that you sleep well and chases the nightmares away as not to disturb his precious angel.

Lightning - Lightning is the all-knowing agent whom one can never know when he strikes. No one can escape from the flash of his camera. He knows everything - but it is important that you smile for the picture. The longer you hold your sorrows, the more sad your life ahead will be.

Only you can make their job easier - by gracefully accepting whatever life has to offer with a smile and an attitude of gratitude.

Be prepared, for everyday is picture day...

Dare to be Different

There's a special feeling about being your own person - because it's a special blessing to have the ability to be different from others and not care what they think of you. You are content with who you are, and you do things your way. You don't have to be someone you're not. It takes courage to be your own person, no matter what the world may think. Not having to care about what others think - is truly a blessing.

Along with being your own person, comes your own, uniques ideas that astound those around you. This is because you have your own individual way of thinking, unlike the rest who all think the same, and those thoughts eventually develop into the same actions. That's why, when unique ideas are presented, they attract everyone. These ideas are filled with so much purity that they inspire others, and help others - but they always have a positive impact. As an example, here is the story of a 6th grader who dared to be different:

Jeff was considered the class clown but he was an innovative individual. He had a great mind..but didn't perform so well in school. One day, his class needed to take part in a contest to see who could fly their airplane the farthest. Tom, on the other hand, was one who believed in Jeff's capabilities and chose him as a partner.

Soon enough, the time for the contest had approached and Jeff was still 'thinking' with the unfolded paper hidden behind his back. Tom, being a supportive partner, requested the teacher for his group to fly last. At their turn, the distance of Tom's plane exceeded average - but Jeff's plane soared higher and farther than all the others. Why? Jeff's ability to 'fly' outside of the box and his ability to think simple. He revealed his unfolded paper from behind his back and simply wadded it into a ball.

So, Dare to be Different - you'll be surprised at what you can do.

The World Can Be The Way You Imagine It

Some people think that you can't change the world - but I think that you can. Never underestimate your capabilities, because you never know what you can do until you try. Think about all the people that did make a difference in society; Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller and Mahatma Gandhi - just to name a few. Martin Luther and Abraham Lincoln were strong pillars of African American rights - King for segregation and Lincoln for slavery. Helen Keller inspired the world to to go ahead with life no matter what may come. Gandhi fought for India's freedom against British rule with nonviolence. In fact, he is who inspired MLK to proceed his act with nonviolence. Think about these people, they are only a few out of the many who did change the world - and you can too.
When I grow up and succeed in my goal of becoming an author, I'd like to change the world with my writing and help everyone feel content with themselves in this world of anxiety. There are people in this world who are believed to never 'turn around'; but remember, Love has the power to do the greatest things. Here is a story that follows this statement...
A woman was once lecturing a group of employees from a grocery store about how you should do something so alluring that your customers feel the urge to come back. Her speech had so much meaning to one individual that he took action as soon as he could. Johnny was a grocery bagger at the supermarket and he had Down Syndrome. A week after the woman's speech, he called her to let her know that her words had a positive impact on him and explained to her his idea for making the world around him a place that everyone would like to be in. The woman was touched, and, as you will see, by inspiring one, you touch the heart of many.
Every day, Johnny would find an inspiring Thought for the Day - and with the help of his father, he printed out copies for the customers. As he bid the customers with a few heart-warming words, he dropped the kind gesture in each bag. The word spread, and soon, not only did the previous customers come back, but even new ones too! Johnny's line soon reached the end of the frozen foods aisle and even thought the manager tried to open new lines for the customers, they refused. This is the power of Love that can create an instilled impression of your kindness in someone else. It's kind of like a fossil, your impression of love stays forever imprinted on their heart.
This goes to show that by inspiring one, you touch the heart of many, many more. These people helped make the world a better place...

And don't forget that you can too.

Courage Doesn't Mean Loud

This quote is a perfect example of 'Courage Doesn't Mean Loud'. This phrase means that to be courageous, you don't have to make it on world news, or be published in the New York Times. Courage simply means to challenge yourself; to go beyond what you normally do and exceed your 'limitations'. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have to do something the whole world must know. Remember, the smallest things have the biggest impact on our lives.

Courage can also simply be dealing with problems that you may encounter any day. When we feel like giving up, courage is what brings us back. After the heavy snowstorms this year, who gave some of us the nerve to step out of the house and drive? Courage did. When we feel drowsy, who wakes us up each morning to face a new day - a day where you know absolutely anything can happen? Courage Does. Day to day things that may not seem to hold much importance, involve courage.

Is there a certain goal that you'd like to reach? Do you have the confidence in yourself that you will be able to accomplish it? Most of all, do you have the courage to deny the tempting parking spaces in the way? Only you have the answers to these questions - and you will only seek the answers when you journey to your goal. Challenge yourself, and go beyond your thought - after all, the smallest things have the greatest impact.

Live your goal.

The Perfect Canvas

Shooting Star,
Shooting StarHow perfect you are -
Up in the night so lit!

Even kids quit playing tag with lasers

When they see stargazers like me:

Amongst all the other people of stars
Coming to observe how perfect you are.

With your flawless form striking through the sky,
So vivid and stunning that it makes me cry;

I can't help but wonder why this world is a blunder -
And you so calm, serene, and tranquil.

When you painted that sky once again,
It was then that I figured out:

Each of us follow the one in front -
When whom we should follow is up above.

It was a humid evening - but the chirping of the birds, the generous breeze, and the scent of blooming nature made up for it.
Fireflies flickered in the distance and He made the perfect canvas out of the sky: stars shined their full potential with a few strokes of color. It was a quiet but stunning performance that only few were able to witness - because He briskly applied the acrylic to form vivid hues, admired it, and then drizzled it with water. It dripped for a couple of seconds, and then disappeared from plain sight.

Many children chose the glistening stroke over the amusement of games, adults dropped their food and reached for their phones, only to find it was too late. The only picture that could have been taken was from the heart.

As it sprinted soundlessly across the sky, I wondered why all of us were drawn to it. The purity that comes from inside the core of this light emanates - and we look and look and look, until finally, it dawns that the star really is a star, because it follows The One above,
not the one in front.

We simply can't help but look, and look, and look.

Freak the Mighty

I have just recently finished reading another one of Rodman Philbrick's books; Freak the Mighty. This book deals with many issues amongst the characters - one of them being the lack of kindness towards each other, or bullying. My favorite character in the book, Freak (Kevin is his real name) deals through many hardships including the lack of height due to a certain disease and the inability to walk properly. Max, Freak's best pal, has a few hardships in his life as well; the lack of a mother and learning disabilities. Although, there is one lacking that both Freak and Max share; and that is the lack of a father. This book focuses more on Max's lack of a father more than Freak's. Although, there is one incident that hurt me beyond words to the fact that I didn't even want to turn the page. I simply dropped the book in my bed and occupied myself with another activity.
This incident is when Freak and Max decide to perform a kind act by returning a purse to the woman whom it belonged to. Unfortunately, the residents of that particular household were not reciprocating the kindness that Max and Freak had displayed to them. Instead, they were thrown with insults and as Freak and Max were leaving the wretched household, Freak caught the heaviest insult of them all.

An excerpt from Freak the Mighty: (here, Loretta, the rigid lady, is conversing with Freak)

"...I know all about you. Your old man was a magician, did you know that?" ... "Yeah," Loretta says. "Right after you was born. He must be a magician, because as soon as he heard the magic words 'birth defect,' he disappeared."

This is the absolutely adverse way to behave with a person that found your missing item and made the effort to return it to you. In fact, you should never, under any circumstance behave with such a nasty matter towards anyone. If everyone kept putting each other down, this world would be lifeless. None of us would desire to live in a place like this and everyone would just be there. Without a purpose, without a goal, without something to live for.

So make your life purpose-filled, goal-occupied, and with someone or something to live for.

The Power of Positivity

During your life, have you ever wondered about the mysterious snowflake? Aren't you fascinated with the fact that each snowflake that falls from the sky above and gracefully falls to the ground below has a different form than all the others? Well, this mystery will soon be revealed and along with it, will show us The Power of Our Thoughts.

Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that thoughts, kind words, and positive attitude not only have a positive affect on us humans, but as well as on water. If you think about it, this actually makes sense because the percentage of water in our bodies are more than half! Here are pictures of Dr. Emoto's discovery using the Fujiwara Dam:

Here is the picture of some water from the Fujiwara Dam BEFORE it was given a blessing:

Here is the SAME water AFTER being given a blessing by a Zen Buddhist:

Amazing, isn't it? When positive thoughts can have such a drastic affect on water, imagine the affect it will have on ourselves! Those of us that are looking for peace of mind and a feeling of relaxation, the key is to have positive and pure thoughts that will keep our mind happy and healthy. We will be content with our life and appreciate whatever comes our way.

Remember, when you are feeling down and aren't satisfied with life, think, "My glass is not half empty, my glass is half full!"

Here is a video that shows some other ways Dr. Emoto went about this miraculous discovery as well as some other fascinating water crystals formed by positivity!

An Unexpected Gift
January 18th, 2010

Turning on my left side to face my alarm clock, I moved my messy hair for a clear view of my helpful yet irritating alarm clock. Oddly enough, the clock was not there and I was forced against my own will to begin a search. As I scoured the room, I began to think that I had accidentally knocked it off in the attempt to make it snooze (as I occasionally do). After searching the entire area, I simply checked the time on my phone - 7:03 A.M.

Suddenly, it hit me that I was supposed to wake up about twenty minutes ago! With a sense of urgency in my mind, I stepped out my bedroom and entered the hall that is usually busy at this hour. That's when the windy gusts of white caught my attention out the hexagon window. The height of me on my tip-toes was just enough to see the spectacle of the sparkling snow which could have been the reason nobody was awake. The thought ran through my head, "How can I find out? I don't want to disturb anyone - but it's Tuesday, the day after the Martin Luther King holiday..."

Although, I didn't have to worry for long, because when Mom came out of her room, I knew I would get the answers to all of my questions. Just then, I was going to ask her about the whereabouts of my alarm clock when she turned around and told me herself: "Oh, and I hope you don't mind that I took your alarm clock. I took it so you wouldn't keep checking the time and ruin your sleep. But I guess that didn't work out too well..." All I did was wrap my arms around her and she received the message. She smiled and lovingly put her comforting hand on my shoulder, saying, " You don't have school today, go back to sleep and then enjoy your day off," The excitement was unbelievable - a four-day weekend!

If it were anyone else, I would not have been able to fall back asleep with the excitement of the unexpected gift. It was the Touch of Mother's Hand that sent a feeling of serenity and calmed me, allowing me to fall back into the World of Dreams...

Thank you Mom.

Silky, Sparkling, Strands

*As you read, please let the enchanting video relax you. Thank you.

"From the enlightenment of music comes the wisdom of...silence."
- Visions of Gregorian Chants

While having this knowledge, I still wonder why this is so. Is it because music helps you realize the importance of silence?

Silky, Sparkling, Strands

I hear the whistling of the falling water, so whimsical.

I can hear it whistling in contentment,
as it falls free, free from the world.

I can sense the scent of the sparkling strands,
as the miraculous mist fills the ambiance.

I can feel the whimsical gestures,
of the silky, sparkling, strands,
flowing against the rigid rock.

The cataract comforts me when I feel restless.
Its soft, sweet, and melodious tune calms the anxious mind.
It is the medicine of nature that can relax the most disturbed minds.

Does the sound of a waterfall enlighten you? Does it make you feel, that for a moment, everything is simply perfect?
That is the Magic of the Musical Mist!

When you enjoy something and simply forget about the world, you are in the present moment...and living each moment to its fullest is the key to the Gate of Contentment.

The waterfall flows with endless possibilities.
Live your life with endless possibilities.

Crafty Counterfeiters - Part II
When these Crafty Counterfeiters copy off of someone, they have no idea what GIGANTIC secret they just spilled about themselves.
The fact that they are not mature just entered the world and will never be forgotten, just like the Internet. Once something enters cyberspace, it is never erased. Also, they are showing that they are not yet mature enough to produce their own unique, creative writing. They are also expressing that they underestimate their capabilities to write or do anything whatsoever!
More so, there will be a permanent impression of your crime on the victim. As for me, I am the type of person who lives in the present and tries to forget the past - even though writing this piece is bringing back those unwanted memories.

The Good
I am also the type of person that likes to find the best out of every situation. In this case, I felt that this incident trained me for life ahead. Life is filled with all sorts of people that will try to gain many things out of you. This incident has also shown me how to deal with situations without hurting the feelings of others.

So whenever this episode of my life is replayed, I know the right button to push: Stop.
